About 'nutritional shake'|THE BEST NUTRITIONAL SHAKE
Pre-workout shakes are a great way to make sure your body is fueled and ready for your workout. The reason for their use is to supply the muscles with an ultimate source of carbohydrates, calories and most importantly protein. What are the ingredients? Protein is the number one ingredient when it comes to making the perfect pre-workout shake. What type of protein should be used is even more important. Mixing fifteen grams of casein protein and fifteen grams of whey protein is a must. Casein protein breaks down over a course of seven hours, supplying your body pre, intra, and post workout. Whey protein breaks down in about thirty minutes, supplying your body immediately with a source of protein. In addition to, mix in about 1½ cups of non-fat milk. This will increase the protein total and add both more calories and carbohydrates to your shake. Then based on your preference, add three ounces of banana for a more flavorful shake or a tablespoon of peanut butter for a creamier shake. What are the nutritional totals in the shake? It depends on whether you added peanut butter or banana to your shake but the calorie total should come between 330 and 350. Adding peanut butter will supply your shake with about nine grams of fat, forty-seven grams of protein and twenty-five grams of carbohydrates. The banana will create a shake with about one gram of fat, forty-four grams of protein and thirty-nine grams of carbohydrates. It really doesn't matter which one you choose, it's all about preference of taste and texture. No matter what, both will yield great results for your workout. Should it be shaken, stirred or blended? Since you are trying to mix either a banana or peanut butter into your shake you will undoubtedly have to use a blender. If you prefer a thicker shake add two or three ice cubes to the blender. If you don't have access to a blender it's okay. Skip the peanut butter and banana and instead pour the 1½ cups of milk into a shaker or water bottle, add your protein mix, and then shake for thirty seconds or until saturated. When should you take your shake? An hour to an hour and a half before beginning your routine is the best time to take your workout shake. This will allow it to begin to break down and be digested. This way your body will continue to be supplied with nutrients throughout your workout. *The information in this article is based on the author's years as an experienced bodybuilder and expertise in creating workout-based shakes. |
